The Archibald Prize 2011

I regret missing last year's Archibald Prize and so it's exciting to see this year's line up, but like 2009 it's a varied set. The packing room prize winner: Matt Moran by Vince Fanauzzo.

Most annoying: Artist and family by Rodney Pople.

Best stylistically: Portrait of a Seated Woman by Marcus Cullum.

Most surrealistic (think René Magritte) : Self Portrait - For A Change by Pam Tippett.

Most pretentious title but most interesting background:, Self portrait as Quong Tart's Contemporary (After John Thomson) 2011 by Jiawei Shen.

Best overall (with allusions to Giorgio de Chirico): Professor Penny Sackett: Astronomer and Physicist by Andrew Mezei.
