The Vuvuzela effect
The Vuvuzela, basically a glorified stadium trumpet, has received a fair bit of negative commentary. Nathan has an amusing analysis over at his blog. What caught my attention was byline about how a French TV station had filtered their sound from their broadcasts. Given that the Vuvuzela will find its way into most sporting arenas, sound filtering of our sports game will continue and increase. In the long run two interesting effects will arise, the experience of the lounge-chair viewer and the actual spectator will continue to diverge. Secondly we will need to become savvier in out analysis of content. All content is synthetic to varying degrees its our ability to analyze and process it that becomes increasingly more important.
